If you're visiting Mexico City and plan to explore the Juárez neighborhood, you're in for a culinary treat. Known for its eclectic vibe and vibrant atmosphere, Juárez is also a hotspot for foodies, with restaurants offering everything from Mediterranean to French cuisine. After wandering through its historic streets and art-filled corners, there’s no better way to end the day than with dinner at one of these incredible spots. Here are my top recommendations for a perfect evening.

DAROSA: Italian Flavors in a Cozy Setting

Darosa is one of those places that makes you feel at home the moment you step in. Inspired by Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, it’s perfect for a romantic dinner or a relaxed meal with friends. The atmosphere is cozy, with simple yet stylish decor. Here, the dishes are designed to be shared, adding a more intimate touch to the dining experience.

My personal favorite is the rigatoni with beef cheek ragù and cavolo nero—the texture and flavor are unbeatable. Pair it with a Camerano Barolo Terlo 2013, available right at the restaurant. This Barolo is a gem from Camerano, one of the oldest wineries in the Barolo region, with only 6.5 hectares of vineyards, making it a rare and special treat.

Cana Bistro: The Modern Bistro You Can't Miss

Cana Bistro is one of Juárez’s newest openings, and it’s already become a local favorite. This restaurant elevates the classic bistro concept, respecting the origins of its ingredients and perfecting every culinary technique. Besides its impressive menu, the space itself is stunning, designed by interior designer Roseta Barraza. The long marble bar with subtle lighting, the velvet armchairs, and wooden chairs give it a sophisticated and modern touch.

If you’re looking for a versatile dining experience with carefully crafted flavors, this is the place to be. I recommend trying their standout dish: beef fillet with cauliflower purée and asparagus, paired with a glass of wine from their extensive list. It’s the perfect balance of contemporary and traditional.

Havre 77: A Slice of Paris in Juárez

If you've ever dreamed of dining at a Parisian bistro, Havre 77 will transport you straight to Paris without leaving Juárez. Located in a 19th-century house, this place has a unique charm. Chef Gerardo Ramos delights with the best of French cuisine. From the classic French onion soup to the delectable duck confit, every bite is a joy.

My personal recommendation: start with the wheat toast with eggplant and goat cheese, followed by the roasted red snapper fillet, and finish with a warm apple tart with fresh cream. Their wine and classic cocktail menu perfectly complements any dish you choose.

Taverna: Mediterranean Essence with a Local Twist

Taverna is a place that radiates history and authenticity. Located in a 1907 mansion on General Prim Street, this restaurant has been restored to preserve its essence, mixing reclaimed furniture with handcrafted tableware made by artisans from Oaxaca. Mediterranean cuisine is at the heart of Taverna, but what makes it special is the local touch in each dish, made with fresh ingredients from the region.

Everything here is meant to be shared at the center of the table. My favorites: the dates stuffed with chorizo wrapped in serrano ham with pepper sauce and the rib sandwich cooked on the grill. Don’t leave without trying their tomato bread with garlic oil, it’s simply irresistible.

If you’re looking for a dining experience that combines history, style, and flavor, Juárez is your neighborhood. These restaurants not only offer memorable dinners but also invite you to dive into the rich culture and vibrant scene of Mexico City.
